Señor del yajña. El Yajña es la actividad cooperativa entre el aspirante humano y los poderes cósmicos, que sucede tanto en el cuerpo de la persona y como en el cosmos. Es la ofrenda de todos los trabajos y ganancias a la divinidad interior. A través del correcto yajña una persona puede alcanzar la perfección en todas las acciones. Agni es la Voluntad Divina en una persona que la impulsa a realizar todas las acciones en un espíritu de ofrenda, lograr el Placer de las acciones y ofrecerlas a los Dioses. Agni hace que el aspirante participe en el yajña interno, aunque la persona sea inconciente de la presencia divina en sus actividades superficiales.
Una escuela de tradicionalistas, mimamsakas, afirman que el yajña no es nada mas que un ritual externo y caracterizan al Rig Veda Samhita y a los otros Veda Samhitas como parte del Karma-Kanda, el libro de rituales. Sin embargo, de los 1028 himnos en el Rig Veda Samhita, ni un solo himno da detalles de rito físico alguno. En el texto solo hay palabras como yajña, adhvara, yaja conectadas con los ritos. Estas palabras tienen significados espirituales.
